Mark your calendars for our Fine Arts Festival to be held on March 26th from 6-9pm at CHHS!

We recently celebrated the growth and contributions of our English language learning students and their families at our annual ESL Night. Students tasted cultural dishes like baleadas from Honduras and empanadas de pollo from Dominican Republic, played learning games to build English and content skills, located their birthplaces on a map with a photo, and more!
This night couldn't have been possible without our many CHPS staff members who planned and hosted the event and numerous community partners who contributed items and services. Thank you to Anthem, United Healthcare, Tussing PTO, The Heights Baptist Church, and Waleska Co. for donating items and raffle prizes. Thank you to The Heights Baptist Church Spanish Ministry for being present at the event for translation services.

If you're planning to attend the varsity football playoff game, you can order tickets in advance from GoFan or pay with cash at the gate.

Thanks to local small business Palmer's Towing & Recovery who volunteered, free of charge, to haul our newly built spectator bleachers to the tennis and field hockey facilities behind CHHS! We are excited to be making progress on our goal to update our athletic facilities over the next few years.

A huge thank you to the DEA, Virginia National Guard, and our local emergency services providers for an amazing Red Ribbon Week event for CHMS students!

As a reminder, students have a ✨four-day weekend✨ that begins tomorrow! Staff will attend professional learning sessions tomorrow, 10/11, and both staff and students will observe the Indigenous Peoples' and Columbus Day holidays on Monday, 10/14.

📵 CELL PHONE POLICY SURVEY 📵
In response to Executive Order 33 and VDOE guidance, we are seeking input from parents, secondary students, & staff about potential changes for our cell phone policy. We welcome your feedback to help inform our decision making. Please be on the lookout for the email with the survey link this afternoon.

This year, CHPS joined the Beanstack family! Beanstack is a reading log software that allows all of our students to log their reading minutes, participate in reading challenges, and earn badges and rewards for their reading time. Beanstack has a mobile app that students can use at home from any tablet or phone. All they need is their ClassLink login! And YES, grown-up read-aloud sessions are encouraged and count towards their minutes 😉
Visit our website to download the app, learn how to log in it, and start reading with your child at home: https://www.colonialhts.net/o/chcps/page/beanstack
