Public Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Colonial Heights School Board will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, beginning at6 4:00 PM in the Colonial Heights High School Media Center, 3600 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. After careful consideration and much deliberation, the Colonial Heights School Board is excited to announce the new CHPS Superintendent on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Interested community members are invited to attend a special board meeting at 4:00 p.m. in the Colonial Heights High School Media Center to hear this exciting news. A meet and greet reception will follow the meeting. This special meeting will also be recorded for those that are not able to attend.

CHPS would like to recognize the Alpha Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa as a valued Community Partner of the New Teacher Academy. At tonight's school board meeting, we celebrated some fantastic student achievements! A huge congratulations to our school spelling bee winners: division champion Mia Klingman from Lakeview Elementary, Luna Phan from North Elementary, Catherine So from Tussing Elementary, and division runner-up Hunter Long from Colonial Heights Middle School! We also celebrated our outstanding Seniors of the Month: Nya Washington for the month of April and Kayla Buffalow for the month of May. We're so proud of all these talented students!

The 10th Annual CHPS Feet Meet was a wonderful event! Over 225 athletes and buddies from Colonial Heights elementary schools, middle school, high school and Wesley preschool participated. The Feet Meet provides an opportunity for all preschool, elementary, middle and high school students with and without disabilities in the city to showcase their skills and have fun. But more importantly, this event - like many others throughout the year - provides an outstanding opportunity to change the minds and attitudes of all of us about the abilities of persons with intellectual and physical disabilities. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS LIVE! If you missed the in-person Kindergarten Registration Nights on April 17, you can begin registering your child immediately using our online registration website at https://www.colonialhts.net/o/chcps/page/kindergarten-registration.

On April 9 we hosted our annual 🌺Learning Luau🌴at Tussing Elementary for our elementary Title 1 families. Students took home books, played reading & math games, and even won some awesome door prizes! Families connected with teachers, played together, and shared a meal. Learning + laughter = a night to remember!

Congratulations to Connor Zucconi from the Tussing Run Club who was the overall winner for the Monument Ave Mini One Miler this weekend! Mr. Corey Johnson does an amazing job keeping the Tussing Tigers Run Club participants active with weekly exercises and runs.

We are so excited to host school-based Kindergarten Registration Nights this year! Beyond being able to register your rising K student while we occupy any kiddos you might bring along, we'll also have things like goody bags, sample classroom tours, exhibit tables with resources, Parent Portal tech support, and more!
