Congratulations to Tussing Elementary School on being named a 2025–2026 Virginia Naturally School by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources! 🏆
This statewide recognition celebrates Tussing’s commitment to hands-on science, environmental learning, and real-world STEM experiences. From a growing Science Club and record participation in the Science Fair to STEAM Night and partnerships that extend learning beyond the classroom, Tussing students are experiencing science in exciting and meaningful ways.
We are incredibly proud of the teachers and staff whose intentional work continues to strengthen science instruction and inspire our students! 💙👏

Last night’s first School Board meeting of the school year was filled with celebration as we recognized some of the incredible people who make CHPS such a special place!
We celebrated our 2025–2026 Teachers and Support Staff Members of the Year and recognized our outstanding custodial and maintenance teams for the tremendous work they put in this summer to prepare, beautify, and ready our schools for a successful new year.
We are grateful for the dedication, pride, and care these individuals bring to CHPS each day. Congratulations, and thank you for all you do! 🏫✨

Colonial Heights Public Schools kicked off the new school year with our first-ever CHARGE: Colonial Heights Achieving Readiness, Growth, and Excellence event!
All CHPS employees came together for a day filled with learning, collaboration, connection, and plenty of Colonial pride. From engaging professional learning sessions led by our own talented staff and community partners to opportunities to connect, recharge, and celebrate together, CHARGE showcased the incredible knowledge, expertise, and energy that already exist throughout our division.

This week, we were thrilled to welcome our newest teachers and staff members to the CHPS family!
Throughout New Staff Orientation, our newest Colonials spent time learning about CHPS, engaging in professional learning and curriculum planning, connecting with mentors and colleagues, exploring instructional resources and technology, and preparing their classrooms for the year ahead.

The Colonial Heights Police Department will conduct scheduled training at North Elementary tomorrow from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.
You may notice an increased law enforcement presence at the school during this time. Please be assured that this is a planned training exercise and not an emergency.

Over the past two days, CHPS leaders came together for our annual Leadership Retreat to prepare for the 2026–2027 school year.
Through collaboration, planning, professional learning, and a little fun along the way, we spent time strengthening our leadership, building relationships, and preparing to support our students, staff, and families in the year ahead.

🚗💙 CHPS on the Road begins tomorrow! 💙🚗
Rain or shine, we're hitting the road! While Wednesday's forecast calls for some rain, we're still planning to visit all of our scheduled community locations with just a few adjustments.
At each stop, students will have the opportunity to climb aboard a school bus, receive a free book and a bag of school supplies, and connect with CHPS staff and teachers. Plus, enjoy games, ice cream, activities, and plenty of community fun!
🌧️ Due to the weather forecast, our stops at Tussing Elementary and North Elementary have been extended and will now take place from 4:00–7:00 p.m., giving families even more time to join us for an indoor celebration.
School supplies are available while they last, so come out, say hello, and help us kick off another amazing school year together!
