We are excited for you to meet our new division and school administrators!




Travis Ridley, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction

Travis Ridley was born and raised in Dinwiddie, Virginia and was a student-athlete at Hampton University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Master's degree in Business Administration, and a post-master’s teaching certificate. In 2008, he earned an endorsement in educational leadership from Virginia State University and obtained his Superintendent's license in 2009 from the Department of Education. 

In 2003, he began coaching at Colonial Heights High School, this experience turned into his new life’s journey of mentoring and teaching children. He served as a member of the CHHS 9th grade transition team, the Brightpoint Community College’s PEER Consortium, and the CHPS Education Leadership team. He won the Chamber of Commerce Leadership award, was recognized a number of times as a Senior of the Month staff honoree, and was named the Central District’s Track Coach of the Year twice. He later became the Career and Technical Director and Assistant Principal of Colonial Heights High School and Principal of North Elementary School (2011-2022). Mr. Ridley was given the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for grades K-12 in rural Buckingham County Public Schools. There, he held a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to Director of Testing, Title IX Coordinator, Virginia Preschool Initiative implementer, Office of School Quality liaison, and Virginia Tiered System of Support member. Although he cherished his time in this division, he could not pass up the opportunity to become the Assistant Superintendent of Schools at a division he has called home for the past nineteen years.

Christy George, Director of the Office of Support Services

Christy is returning to the role of Director of Support Services.  Mrs. George is entering her nineteenth year of service, sixteen of which have been in Colonial Heights. Mrs. George brings with her a wealth of special education experience that includes work as a special education teacher, Support Services Specialist, Associate Director of Student Services, and Director of Support Services. Her knowledge of the division and its students, families, and staff will be a great asset in this role. Mrs. George also serves as the Chair for the Wesley Preschool Board and as a member of the VCU AEC Executive Board.

Amanda Pelter, Principal of Colonial Heights Middle School

Mrs. Amanda Pelter has been a member of the CHMS family for 21 years. She has served as the Assistant Principal for the last six and a half years.

Latoya Edwards, Assistant Principal of Colonial Heights Middle School

Latoya Edwards, CHMS' former Dean of Students, will serve as one of two Assistant Principals. Ms. Edwards taught Physical Science here at the middle school for 17 years, co-sponsored the middle school's dance club, and coordinated our Summer Academy and After School Remediation Program. As our division Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year, Mrs. Edwards brings a passion for our middle schoolers and valuable relationships with families from the community that is a second home to her.

Brennan Hoffer, Assistant Principal of Colonial Heights Middle School

Brennan Hoffer comes from Colonial Heights High School and will join CHMS as one of two Assistant Principals. At CHHS, he spent the past five years teaching AP United States History, Virginia and United States History, and Government. Mr Hoffer also served as an administrative assistant, summer school administrator, and athletic event coordinator. While at the high school, he coached football and baseball, and will continue serving as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach. Mr. Hoffer is eager to join the CHMS administrative team and work alongside such a hard-working, devoted staff that will continue to serve our amazing students and families.

Natasha Rose, Assistance Principal of Lakeview Elementary

Ms. Rose is a graduate of Hampton University.  She obtained her Master's in Educational Leadership in 2017 and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program at Liberty University online. Ms. Rose has two children, Gabe, 9 and Autumn, 8. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Rose was a high school math teacher, mathematics department chair and an activities director. She has served as an elementary assistant principal and more recently, she was the principal of Capron Elementary School. Finally, she was recognized as a 2023 National Registries Women of Distinction.
