In the 2018-2019 school year, all students in grades 6-12 will be issued a Chromebook to use in the classroom and take home for assignments. A Chromebook is an Internet-enabled device that utilizes the Chrome browser for web surfing, school email, and productivity/creativity software. CHPS has piloted Chromebooks in our schools for three years and they have become very popular among both teachers and students.
Your child's Chromebook depends on Internet access and will not function without it. Internet bandwidth (speed) of at least 1-3Mbps (megabits per second) is needed for proper functionality. For those families needing support to maintain adequate Internet access at home, the following resources are available.
Comcast Internet Essentials - Affordable Internet access at home for families that have at least one child who qualifies for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Home WIFI Hotspot Check-out - Check-out a cellular HotSpot device from your school's library.
