Band Hosts Special Guest

Mr. Carl Bly came to work with the Colonial Symphonic Band and Colonial Heights Middle School Band on Wednesday, February 28th.  Mr. Bly is a retired band director whose previous position was as Band Director at Lake Braddock HS in northern Virginia.  During his time at Lake Braddock, his bands competed in national events and received numerous awards.  Mrs. Jan Collins, the Colonial Heights Middle Band Director, graduated from Lake Braddock under Mr. Bly's tutelage.  Currently Mr. Bly is in demand as a competition judge, guest clinician, and guest conductor.  Colonial Heights is lucky to have a clinician of such caliber to come and work with the students.  He will be helping to prepare music for the upcoming Festival concert.  Where the ensembles perform music for a panel of judges and receive a rating.  It is the band version of an SOL.  We are very excited to have Mr. Bly and the students are certain to improve and learn under his direction.
