Lakeview Ground Breaking for Renovation and Expansion

10/22/2010 - A ground breaking ceremony at Lakeview Elementary School was held to recognize the renovation and expansion taking place at the school. Members of the school community, representatives from city government, School Board members, and school officials gathered on October 18, 2010 to mark the special occassion by breaking ground with shovels decorated with ribbons in the school's blue and yellow color theme. Superintendent Dr. Joseph O. Cox, Jr. welcomed those gathered, and this followed with the Pledge of Allegiance led by SCA officers, and remarks offered by School Board Chair Sandra Coleman, Mayor C. Scott Davis, and Principal Valerie Wiggins.

The renovation and expansion will eliminate the trailers at the 41-year-old school, and add much needed instructional space, expanding the school to 57,207 square feet. The expansion is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2011.
