Overview of the Local Plan

The Regulations Governing Educational Services for Gifted Students outlines the components school systems are required to include in their local plans for educating identified gifted students.  School divisions are required to submit their local plan to the Virginia Department of Education for approval every five years.

The Colonial Heights Plan includes the division's vision/mission statement, philosophy of gifted education, and the goals related to the gifted identification process.  The plan also contains information about curriculum development, the delivery of services, professional development, as well as parent and community involvement.  In addition, the plan outlines the current status of gifted education in the Colonial Heights Public Schools which is a continuum of services for K-12 students who demonstrate advanced academic strengths.  A complete copy of the Local Plan for the Education of the Gifted can be obtained at the Colonial Heights School Administration Office or at: http://tinyurl.com/cg2ge3m
